HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!!!!

China Glaze Fortune Teller is my official Halloween Nail Polish for this year. I loved this polish so much that I bought 2 bottles so I would have plenty more for years to come. It is the perfect blend of various shaped glitters swimming in a black jelly base. The result is nothing short of stunning! I wore this baby for several days and I got tons of compliments on it.
It is easy to see why this baby has become a favorite among nail polish fiends!

It looks good under any light, but it is under sunlight that it's glory is properly noted.

Of course it is a little hard to remove but it is all worth it :)

I don't want to be without this polish for many haloweens to come!

Thank you China Glaze for creating this beauty. It is perfect in so many ways. Have I told you lately that I love you China Glaze??? Well, now I am...I Love You CHina Glaze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OPI Mystery & Tidbits

Hi everybody! Long time no see!
I got real sick with the flu for the past 3 weeks and I'm still a little under the weather. Today was a good day so I managed to get a lot done so now I'm playing!
Today you'll meet my boys and check out my latest long-lasting manicure:)
This is Sunny, my oldest yorkie. Hi loves to "guard" the windows and pretend to be Batman.

He's the Alpha dog around here

This is Indiana (Aka Indy). I adopted Indy about 3 months ago. His birthday is the day after Christmas. He always perks up just one ear.

Indiana is such a cuddler. This little one is the most loving dog. He always has this Eeyore look about him but don't be fooled, he is VERY ornery.

Now my nail wreck of the week:
This is one of the worse breaks I've had in a long time. I haven't changed my routine of base coats & top coats so I gotta figure out how my nail got weak.
The polish is Essie Pama. I'm not impressed by it's lack of durability.

There was no salvation for this nail. I had to cut it very short after this mishap.
Here you can see the full extent of the damage:

On to my polish award choice of the month: OPI Mystery
I bought this polish as soon as I saw it on the shelves. As far as durability is concern this one is a winner. I wore this polish for 9 days without a single chip. I had tip wear at the most. I used 3 coats here so it does look very dark.
The beauty of this polish is not only in the way it lasts, but also it's uniqueness. This is a true purple color but you wouldn't be able to tell by the pictures. I looked at this polish under full sunlight and I can see all the purple and gold glitter.

The first coat will show in purple but it is too transparent to wear it alone. I could have used only 2 coats, but I wanted to see it do it's magic, change!
Did I mention I got a lot of compliments on this polish? :)

OPI Mystery did not let me down! I loved this sucker!

Zoya Indigo & Northern Lights Topcoat

I don't know why but I am all about blues lately. Ever since I filed my nails down to this lenght I've been wearing blues of some sort. I've had Zoya Indigo for awhile but had never given it a try until now and I gotta say I loved it.
Zoya Indigo is a nice dark blue but not too dark. It has silver shimmer in it as you can see from the bottle. Since I wanted a little more pizazz I added Northern Lights silver topcoat (I love that stuff).

Zoya Indigo is part of Zoya's Downtown collection - 2007. I used 2 coats for this manicure. It applied very well and it lasted just as well too. I didn't have any chipping going on when I took it off. I will definetly wear this baby again!
Thank you for coming by PMH ladies :)~

Nina Ultra Pro Swatches,and Tidbits

Hello ladies,
I posted my Flying Dragon manicure earlier and a couple of my readers brought out how different my pictures are from the Flying Dragon they have. So I am posting pictures of my two bottles of Flying Dragon so you all can see the difference. The bottle on the left is much older than the bottle on the right.
You can definetly see some difference here. The bottle on the right has more pink glitter to it.

So what might have happened here? This is definetly an inconsistency in batches, which does happen quite often with nail polish.

Stephanie from Polish Addict brought out one time the differences between two bottles of OPI Bubble Bath she owns. Several members of MUA's nail board have brought out the differences between the two existing versions of OPI My Private Jet. This is another example of how nail polish companies can "mix the batter" a little off base. We officially have 2 versions of Flying Dragon.
Now, on to some swatches of the new Nina Ultra Pro polishes I got from Sally's. The first one is Purple-Xing. a purple glitter than I, unfortunately could not capture well on camera. I layered it over Nina's Last Call, but it didn't help me much in showing you it's true color.

Nina Ultra Pro Last Call - doesn't it look a lot like OPI's Catherine the Grape? I used 2 coats here.

Nina Ultra Pro Like Butta - Ok, I confess I bought this one in hopes the formula would be better than all of my other gazillions of yellow polishes. It was better, but not by much. Maybe it's time I give up on yellow polishes that really would apply like butter...

Nina Ultra Pro Sailor - I loved this one. It's not 100% creme because it does look and applies a little like a jelly. I used 3 coats here and the coverage was good. Not quite navy, it's more of a denim blue. This is one I will definetly wear for more than 15 minutes for sure.

Nina Ultra Pro Emerald City - How many cities named Emerald out there? I can think of a couple. It's all good thou. For those who are passionate about green nail polish a name doesn't really matter. This one applied very well and was opaque in 2 coats.
Nina Ultra Pro Leaf Me Alone - You know what I was thinking when I picked this up? I was thinking "oooh, this might be a good alternative to C-c-c-c-h-h-a-n-n ( I can't say the word) Jade". Uhm, no. Not even close. This one is like a watered down OPI Greenwich Village. It was a pain to apply too by the way. I used 3 coats here.

NOTM- China Glaze Flying Dragon & China Glaze Shaken Not Stirred

I rarely buy entire nail polish collections. I usually stalk new collections for awhile before I choose the ones I am more likely love to wear. I also rarely just swatch polishes. I like to wear my polish for a few days. I promise you ladies I will never be up to date on the newest collections out there because you see, I like to take my sweet time in enjoying my polish.
Here are a couple of China Glaze polishes I truly enjoyed wearing. China Glaze Flying Dragon and China Glaze Shaken Not Stirred.
China Glaze Flying Dragon is a child of the Ink Collection. I remember when this collection first came out I was a little iffy about it. Although it was available at Sally's I didn't go for it right away. It wasn't until my daughter brought home Blue Sparrow (also from the Ink collection) that I decided to give the "purple one" a try.

As it turned out I LOVED Flying Dragon because it is unique and a lot of fun to wear. I thought it was a really cool polish, a purple neon base with blue and pink glitter. The glitter isn't overwhelming at all and yet it is very noticeable, giving it a bright "personality".

I wore Flying Dragon for 2 days, less time than I usually wear my polish, but it lasted well without any chipping. I used 2 coats here but I could have used a third since it isn't completely opaque with only 2 coats. The formula was near perfect, with no application issues.
The water cooler ladies gave me a two thumbs up for this baby :)

I have only Blue Sparrow and Flying Dragon from the Ink collection, and (of course) the cool little nail stickers that came with them :)
Now here is one of my top 10 most favorite polishes, China Glaze Shaken Not Stirred from the Martini Pedicure collection (2005 if my sources are correct) . I first saw swatches of this polish on www.nailgal.com , from then on my eyes were peeled in search of it since it has been discontinued. By sheer luck, or maybe the nail polish gods helped me, I found this baby and quickly brought it into my cove.

Shaken Not Stirred is one of those beloved glass-flecked nail polishes that seem to be loved by a lot of nail polish bloggers out there. It is no surprise thou, because they truly look lovely on fingertips. SNS is a perfect blend of pink and lavender (my weakness) and the glass-flecks give the impression of texture plus modest shimmer.

I wore this girl on my fingertips for almost 5 days and I was just as happy to wear it on the 5th day as I was on the first. Of course I refreshed it with topcoat (as I often do for a fresher look). It lasted well with no chipping.

Shaken Not Stirred is one of those polishes that make me almost hesitant to wear because I am afraid I will use it all up and won't be able to find it again ever. Those of you ladies who love polish as much as I do know what I am talking about. It is like having a favorite perfume that you just know once it is gone, it's GONE.

Dear China Glaze,
Would you make more of these glass-flecked polishes? We love them, we miss them, we go nuts trying to get them, we wear them with pride. I know I do :) Could you put this on your list of things to do in the near future?
Thank you,
A nail polish lover
Thank you for visiting PMH and I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!

Orly Enchanted Forest & Poison Apple

Enchanted Forest and Poison Apple (Orly 2009 Fall collection) are the only two colors I picked from the whole collection. I liked these two colors more than the others but I confess the charms had something to do with my choice. I just love the charms!
Poison Apple is an orange based creme red. Nothing all that unique but it is okay. Orangey reds usually don't look very good on me but every so often I dare to wear them on my tips when normally I would reserve them for my footsies. I used 2 coats here. I was able to wear Poison Apple for 3 days without any chipping problems.

Two weeks after I wore Poison Apple my nails were much longer and that's when I wore Enchanted Forest.
I remember wishing for a dark green creme polish back in the beggining of the year. Back then my mood was set on creme greens, but I couldn't find one that suited my taste anywhere in town. So naturally I got excited when Orly came out with this one. I managed to wear Enchanted Forest for 2 days and I only took it off prematurely because I got glue all over one of my nails by accident.
I used 2 coats for these pictures with my usual Rock Hard basecoat and Seche Vite topcoat. The only drawback to this polish was that it stained my nails badly :(

Isn't the charm just too cute?!

Forgive Me Father for I Have Sinned - Sinful I Love You Over Black

I got the call I wished to get this evening. I am officially on standby for work. I hang up my scrubs, slipped into my pajamas, and downloaded pictures from my camera so I could show you what I’ve been wearing for the past 5 days. As you can see I have tip wear going on here but that just goes to show you how well this polish is lasting. I’ve banged the crap out of this manicure, cleaning sinks, bathing dogs, opening beer cans…and still the polish keeps going and going like the energizer bunny. The cool thing thou is that I do NOT want to take it off! I absolutely love this combo and I will milk it for as long as I can.
I started out with 2 coats of plain black polish, then added 2 coats of Sinful I Love You (the feeling is mutual, I love you too). Sinful I Love You is a very sheer purple micro glitter polish on it’s own but it is perfect for layering. My pictures don’t do it justice.

This combo sort of reminds me of OPI Ink. What do you think?
Thanks for coming by PMH and have a great evening!!!!

All work and no play makes Kat a dull girl...

Hello dear ladies,
I'm sure some of you have been wondering if PMH has gone fishing. I wish I was to be honest. This week has been just wonderful here in my neck of the woods. Perfect weather with sunny days and cool air in the evenings.
But it isn't the fishing that has kept be absent from making new posts. I've been working a lot of overtime lately thus allowing my favorite hobby to sit in the back burner for a few days. I'm sure I will come back to parade more nail polish thou. I'm told that only one more week of overtime is in the works. After that things are to return to normal (and that's when I'll be celebrating with a margarita :)~ )
This is just an update to let you ladies know what is going on :) I'll come back soon!!!!!!!
XOXOXOXO to ALL of you :)

China Glaze Let's Groove! - Retro Diva Collection

Hello ladies of the nail polish order!
Here it is, my second choice of the Retro Diva collection, Let's Groove!
As you can see I have cut my nails down quite a bit since I posted Stroll. Once in awhile I get in the "mood" for shorter nails, and since my nails grown fast I am friendly with my nail file :)
I really like this shade of purple but it was a little tough to apply. I got "bald spots" on the first coat that were hard to cover up with a second coat. It is hard to take pictures of this shade because more often than not the pics turned out blue. I'm posting pictures taken under different light to hopefully show you how it looks in real life.

Inside light with very little flash. Oddly enough this picture is more true to life.
With flash. See all the blue? This is not a very accurate picture.

This is also a more true to life picture.

I took this picture outside. I was let down in that it looks more blue than purple.

I used two coats for this manicure, should have used a third. Although I like this shade of purple it is not one of my favorites.
And this is where I stop with the Retro Diva collection. None of the others really interested me since they all looked so, well... dupable.
Thank you for visiting PMH!
